Board Members

President

Mike Olivera
Mike is a San Leandro native, began his employment with the San Leandro Police Department in 1998, and is currently assigned to the Patrol Division. Mike has previously been assigned as a Jailer, Financial Crime Detective, and member of the Bay Area Identity Theft (B.A.I.T.) Task Force. Mike has served as a Field Training Officer, Report Writing Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, member of both the Hostage Negotiation and Critical Incident Stress Management Teams, and this is his second term as a Board Member for the Police Officers' Association.

Jeff Walton

Vice President
Jeff is a veteran of the United States Air Force and began his career as a police officer at the U.C. Berkeley Police Department in 2006. Jeff transferred to the San Leandro Police Department in 2007. During his career as a police officer, Jeff has held assignments in Patrol and Criminal Investigations as a property crime and crimes against person’s detective. Jeff is currently assigned to the patrol division where he serves as Field Training Officer and member of the SWAT team. Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and has served as POA board member and POA secretary. Jeff was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant in September of 2019.

Iain Fry

Treasurer
Iain began his law enforcement career as a police officer with the city of San Jose in 2005. He came to the San Leandro Police Department in 2012. He is currently assigned to Patrol. Iain has served as a Field Training Officer, Hostage Negotiator, Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Homeless Liaison officer and Police Explorer Advisor. This is his second term on the POA board.

Daryl Pasut

Secretary
Officer Daryl Pasut was hired by the SLPD in February of 2013. Officer Pasut is currently assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Division and is a member of the SWAT team.

Maria Cortez

Board Member
Maria was born and raised in San Leandro. She became a full time San Leandro Police Department employee in 2011 after receiving a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Maria has served as a records clerk, a police services technician, and most currently is assigned to the patrol division. In 2019, Maria became the first female police officer to join the department’s SWAT team.

Tim Perry

Board Member
Tim was born and raised in San Leandro and began his employment with the San Leandro Police Department in 2009. Tim is currently assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division as a Senior Detective. Tim was a Crimes Against Person’s Detective from April of 2015 thru October of 2020. Tim has previously been assigned to the Patrol Division, a member of the SWAT Team, a Crime Scene Evidence Technician and remains a Report Writing Instructor. In 2018, Tim received the department’s Officer of the Year Award. This is his second term as a POA board member.

Mike Benz

Board Member
Mike began his career as a Police Officer with the San Leandro Police Department in 2006.  During his career, Mike was a Crimes Against Persons Detective, a member of the Hostage Negotiation Team, Evidence Response Team, Intelligence Team and Peer Support Team.  Currently, Mike is assigned to the patrol division and serves as a Field Technician,  Field Training Officer and a Wellness Team Member.

Dennis Mally

Board Member
Dennis was born and raised in San Leandro and went to Saint Felicitas Catholic School. Dennis started his career at the San Leandro Police Department as a college intern in 2004. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from San Jose State University and graduated the police academy in 2006. Dennis is currently assigned to the patrol division and is a Field Training Officer, Defensive Tactics Instructor, and is a former K-9 handler with his retired partner Rohan. This is his first term as a POA board member.

Cole Pricco

Board Member
Cole began his employment with the San Leandro Police Department in 2015, as an intern, and later became a police officer in 2018. He is currently assigned to the patrol division and is a member of the SWAT Team, Range Instructor, and Field Training Officer. Cole holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Public Administration. This is Cole’s first term on the POA as a board member.
